Problem : Owncloud 9 (last stable) and PrivacyIdea

Hello Everybody,

I have updated my owncloud server to the new stable version 9.0.3. I have
the PrivacyIdea app (worked with previous version of owncloud 8.2.x).
Now when I enable the app, I have a blank screen on owncloud. I have the
following error in the log file data/owncloud.log:
{“reqId”:“xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”,“remoteAddr”:“xxxxxxxxxxxx”,“app”:“user_privacyidea”,“message”:“privacyIDEA
is
enabled”,“level”:0,“time”:“2016-07-07T08:18:22+00:00”,“method”:“GET”,“url”:"/",“user”:"–"}
{“reqId”:“xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”,“remoteAddr”:“xxxxxxxxxxxx”,“app”:“PHP”,“message”:“Error:
Call to undefined method OC_User::getUsedBackends() at
/var/www/owncloud/apps/user_privacyidea/appinfo/app.php#11”,“level”:3,“time”:“2016-07-
07T08:18:22+00:00”,“method”:“GET”,“url”:"/",“user”:"–"}

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello Cornelius,

Thank you for your quick reply. I fully understandyour point of view and I
agree with it. Thank you and wish you the best for the future. I am a big
fan of PrivacyIdea :slight_smile:

DISCLAIMER: This is my personal experience and opinion!

Hello Nicolas,

ownCloud is not really a nice software to develop for. The API changes
often. The support and communication by the company ownCloud sucks. The
development documentation sucks.
Between 8 and 9 many changes occurred. So if the privacyIDEA plugin
somehow worked for 8 of course it will not work for 9.

Till yesterday I was working on the app for ownlcoud 9.1.
It was mostly annoying. There is no fun in working with this software,
because everything in the developer docs is so badly documented and
comments on a developer lists do not really help.

I personally will never again write one line of unpaid code for any
ownlcoud app. Promised!

If you think you need any help with this broken plugin or you are
interested in the 2FA privacyIDEA app (what a bullshit word: app) I ask
you to pay for the development!
This is called pain and suffering money.

Kind regards

Hi Nicolas,

To make things clearer I just deleted the owncloud plugin repos on
github.
